Artifacts

The following artifacts demonstrate the skills and growth that I have achieved in the Educational Technology program at The University of South Carolina Aiken. The samples listed below show my proficiency with applying learning theory, design principles, use of models, and use of multimedia tools and resources.

>STANDARD 5: Evaluation

Candidates demonstrate knowledge, skills, and dispositions to evaluate the adequacy of instruction and learning by applying principles of problem analysis, criterion-referenced measurement, formative and summative evaluation, and long-range planning.

Artifact

Introduction to Excel

Context

EDET 703 – Design and Development Tools II, Spring 2012

Conditions

This was one of my first websites. As is evident, there are a lot of things that need to be adjusted and changed on it. I left it the way it is in order to demonstrate my growth between this website and my latest one for Creating Slideshows Using Camtasia as well as a non-school related site I developed for the Miss Jenn Fishing Team. I can definitely see growth between then and now, and I am very pleased with how far I have come.

Scope

This website was used until recently to assist in training coworkers on the use of Excel. It is currently in need of updating. I left it as it is to show growth between my early work and my present websites.

Role

I was the sole creator of this website.

Performance Indicators

5.1.1 Identify and apply problem analysis skills in appropriate school media and educational technology (SMET) contexts (e.g., conduct needs assessments, identify and define problems, identify constraints, identify resources, define learner characteristics, define goals and objectives in instructional systems design, media development and utilization, program management, and evaluation).
Using the ADDIE process, I identified the needs of my coworkers and designed and developed the website. After implementation and evaluation, I have found that the website needs updating and redesigning to make it more compatible for my coworkers. As our staff has changed, it is important to be able to reassess the needs of the user. Technology has also changed, so updating is necessary.

Evaluation of LMS Course Sites - LMS Evaluation Rubric

Context

EDET 755 - Evaluation of Information Access and Delivery, Summer I 2012

Conditions

For this project, the creation of a rubric to score LMS websites, I was placed into a new group of peers. This was very interesting because we had a short period of time in which to learn each other’s strengths. It was a time constrained summer class, which meant that the work had to be at a higher level faster than a regular semester class.

Scope

This project is available on each group member’s wiki.

Role

With this group project, I was responsible for a section of the rubric design, as well as evaluating websites using the rubric.

Performance Indicators

5.2.1 Develop and apply criterion-referenced measures in a variety of SMET contexts.
In order to properly evaluate the LMS course sites, a tool was needed for measurement. We created a rubric with which to grade each of the websites we visited. Creating and using the rubric helped us to determine how to evaluate course sites properly.
